Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 2023
At Link2WhatsApp, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.
1. Account Data
When you register for an account, we collect basic information necessary to provide the service, such as your email address and name. We use this information solely for authentication, account management, and communicating essential service updates. We do not sell your account data to third parties.
2. Analytics and Tracking
Our core service involves tracking clicks on WhatsApp links and QR codes. When a user clicks a Link2WhatsApp short link, we collect telemetry data including:
- Approximate geographic location (Country/City level).
- Device type, operating system, and browser version.
- Referrer information (where the click originated from).
Crucially: We employ privacy-conscious aggregation. We do not store raw IP addresses permanently. Instead, we use a one-way hashing algorithm (combining IP, user agent, and date) to count unique visitors while preserving individual anonymity.
3. Cookies
We use cookies to maintain your session (keeping you logged in), enforce security (CSRF protection), and analyze how our website is used. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may prevent you from logging into your dashboard.
4. Advertising
We may display advertisements on our free public tools. These ads may be delivered by advertising partners who may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer to deliver targeted advertisements. This privacy policy covers the use of cookies by Link2WhatsApp and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.
5. Data Retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. To prevent database bloat, raw click event data is automatically aggregated into anonymized daily summaries after 24 hours. The raw granular records are then permanently deleted.
6. Third-Party Services
We use third-party infrastructure to host our application (e.g., Vercel, standard cloud databases) and process authentication (e.g., Google OAuth). These providers are bound by strict data processing agreements. We are an independent utility and do not share any tracking or account data with Meta or WhatsApp.
